Pastor jean a. lubin & Elizabeth Lubin - founder
Rev. Jean A. Lubin was born December 9th, 1940, in the small town of Jeremie, Haiti. In 1963 at the young age of 23, Pastor Lubin was saved and received the call to ministry to become a pastor. He attended seminary school in his hometown of Jeremie, and in Port au Prince, Haiti, where he met his wife, Elizabeth Lubin. Once he graduated seminary school, he began pastoring at The Baptist Church in Jeremie, Haiti, in 1970. He continued to pastor at this church until he moved to Miami, Florida, with his family. While in Miami, he worked with many different churches. It was then he was approached by Pastor Balzoa and members of the Florida Baptist Convention about starting a church in Tampa, FL.
On April 11th, 1986, Pastor Lubin along with his wife and 2 daughters began Eben-Ezer Haitian Baptist Church Corp of Tampa, FL. The foundation of this church is what began his relationship with the Florida Baptist Convention. While in Tampa, Pastor Lubin has served as the founder and President of the Brotherhood of Haitian Pastors Committee since 1989. This ministry aids in the development of Haitian churches and mentoring Haitian pastors in the Tampa Bay area. He is still currently involved in this ministry.
Today, Pastor Lubin continues to support the pastoral staff at Eben-Ezer Haitian Baptist Church, which includes Pastor Doret Jean, Pastor Emiraque Louissaint, and Pastor Oliant Saint Jacques, to ensure the mission given to him by God continues to serve the Haitian community. When he’s not pastoring, Pastor Lubin enjoys spending time with his wife, 7 children, and 15 grandchildren.
Church Merge
Rev. Lubin and the Church called Rev. Doret and Marie Joubert E. Jean who founded and lead Bethany Haitian Baptist ministry for 17 years to work out a merging plan for both congregations. After prayers and careful planings for about 5 years Bethany and Eben-Ezer merged on July 16, 2017 after both congregations voted unanimously to become one church but decided to keep the name Eben-Ezer as the legal name while they keep Bethany as a ministry integrated and operated under Eben-Ezer. As a result of this vote, Rev. Doret Jean become lead pastor of Eben-Ezer Baptist Haitian while Rev. Lubin continue to serve as Associate pastor.
